Under the ambitious HIMANK initiative of the Border Road Organisation (BRO), the Likaru-Mig La-Kukche road project is poised to achieve a remarkable milestone as the world’s tallest motorable road through glaciers.

With an estimated cost of INR 520 Crore, the project is set to span approximately 64 Km. At an altitude of 19,400 feet, this road will forge a crucial link between Likaru and Fukche, just 3 Km short of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Situated near Hanle in eastern Ladakh, its primary objective is to ensure vital connectivity to military outposts in the sensitive Fukche sector.
